Create A Fitness Routine That Will Last

By Michael Hauber

So are you someone that tried to go to the gym, but your New Year's resolution fizzled out in February? Or you just couldn't keep up your routine? At Elite Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy we hear this a lot from our clients. The good news is, I have got a solution for you.

Today we are going to look at three keys that you can take with you to keep up a fitness routine.

#1: Why Are You Going To The Gym?
It may seem simple but the first thing we need to do is figure out why you're going to the gym.

  • Is it just to jump on a treadmill?

Or do you have a purpose in mind?

  • Are you trying to lift up your kid better?
  • Are you trying to run a 5k?

Those are all great goals, but we have to know why we're doing it.

#2: You Must Enjoy Your Exercise

Second, we have to enjoy what we're doing. Exercise does not have to be painful. We are meant to play and have fun, so we got to figure out what you like to do.

#3: Start Where You Are At
Lastly, we need to figure out where you're starting now. So if your goal's to run a 5K but you've never run in your life, we need to know how to connect those dots. This will allow you to reduce your risk for injury, and increase the liklihood that you build long-standing fitness habits.

PS - If you want to learn more about how to connect those dots or receive a free Natural Movement report, email Elite Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy's very own, Michael (michael@eliteptkc.com).
