Posture Tips for Moms
Lifting and carrying a child, picking up toys off of the floor, and pushing a stroller are normal daily tasks for mothers. Unfortunately, many moms start to experience back and neck pain due to the repetitive stress and strains of caring for their kids.
Physical therapists are experts in movement and function, especially when movement involves a change in "normal" patterns of movement.

Carrying/Holding Your Child
When holding or carrying your child, you should always hold him or her close to your body and balanced in the center of your body. Avoid holding your child in one arm and balanced on your hip. When using a child carrier, be sure to keep your back straight and your shoulders back to avoid straining your back and neck.

Pushing a Stroller
When pushing your child in a stroller, you will want to stay as close to the stroller as possible, allowing your back to remain straight and your shoulders back. The force to push the stroller should come from your entire body, not just your arms. Avoid pushing the stroller too far ahead of you because this will cause you to hunch your back and shoulders forward.

To avoid a sore neck and shoulders while nursing, use pillows to support your arms and back and avoid slouching.  The pillow support will help you keep your shoulder and neck muscles relaxed and improve your posture.  Also, using pillows or a boppy to support your child will allow you to relax your arms.

Success Stories

From my past experience with Elite, I believe you guys are the best there is. Now, I have the experience to compare. Time for a confession - I recently needed PT and my doc sent me to another group. I reluctantly went and was not impressed. The professionalism, caring, and treatment that I received from Elite PT was a million times better than at the group I went to.

I tried to switch and come to you because I had been spoiled by Elite in the past. I asked to get in immediately. Your schedule was of course very full and it was too long before I could get in. I had a fairly minor issue and the problem resolved. But I can assure you that I will never go to another PT group even if I have to wait forever. You guys are the best and totally worth the wait and the drive. Convenience is nothing when it comes to your health and well being.

I am your biggest fan and I will promote Elite PT to anyone who needs your services.
