FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Answered

Do I need a doctor’s note for Physical Therapy?
No! At Elite you do not need a doctor’s note to receive physical therapy, which means you can call Elite directly to setup an appointment.

What should I wear?
Loose fitting, exercise clothing is ideal.  But, for your convenience we have shorts,
T-shirts and gowns on hand to loan you if needed.

What happens if I need to cancel an appointment?
If your appointment is changed with at least one day’s notice there is no charge for a cancelled or re-scheduled appointment.

What happens if I skip or cancel an appointment?
Please remember, the appointments you schedule reserve a time for individual consultation. If you miss an appointment without letting us know (or cancel within less than 24 hours) you will be held responsible. We currently have a $50 charge for same day cancellations or no-shows.

Acceptable explanations for last minute cancellations include illness, inclement weather, family emergency, hospitalization, or other unforeseen emergent circumstances. Unacceptable explanations for last minute cancellations include work, forgetting an appointment, or other non-emergency circumstances.

Do you have a reminder system for appointments?
Yes! For your convenience we offer automated phone, email, and text reminders for all of your appointments. You can “opt out” if you are not interested in this service.

What if I am running late to an appointment?
Ideally, both you as the patient, and we as the provider, will always be running on time. In reality, this does not always happen. If you are less than 5 minutes late, it is not necessary to call.  If you are running more than 5 minutes late, please do your best to call and let us know.

Will I always have the same therapist?
Yes! We strive to maintain 100% continuity of care. In rare circumstances this may not be possible. Our goal is one therapist, one patient, every time.

What if my doctor referred me to a specific therapist but I am scheduled with someone else?
At Elite we all train together and engage in continuing education to make sure we know the best treatments available to you, our patients. Even if your doctor gave you a specific name, we are all qualified to serve your physical therapy needs. If you have a need that requires special expertise, we will work together to make sure you receive the personalized care you need.

My Doctor told me to go someplace else… Can I still come to you?

Yes!! Access to specific Physical Therapists cannot be limited by physicians or insurance companies.

Similar to taking a prescription to any pharmacy of your choice for a medication, you can bring your PT referral to anyone you chose!

Do you Accept Insurance?

Yes! We are considered “In Network” with most insurance companies.  This means that your insurance company will most likely cover 80 to 100% of our charges once your deductible has been met.

We will verify your coverage with your insurance company by phone or online, and provide you with a detailed outline of your benefits prior to your first visit.

For each following visit we will prepare and submit a claim form, and can provide you with an estimate of cost for each visit.

Please contact our billing office with further questions so we can address your individual circumstances.

Do you have a cash-based option?
In certain circumstances, it can be less expensive for you to be a private pay patient. The initial evaluation is $150 and subsequent visits are $95. Again, please discuss your options with our billing staff.

Why is wellness training not covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies do not provide benefits for wellness training, despite countless studies that prove the benefits of working on the preventative aspects of weight loss, wellness, cardiac training, body composition, flexibility, strengthening, and health enhancement.

What do wellness visits cost?
Individual wellness visits vary based on a pre-purchased package. Please speak with one of our Wellness Physical Therapists for rates and packages.

If I am under 18, does a parent need to attend each visit?
No.  After signing the initial paperwork, parents or guardians are not required to attend each visit.

How many visits should be scheduled per week and how long will each visit last?
Typically, the initial evaluation is about 1 hour and each subsequent visit is 45 minutes.  Most patients are scheduled between 2 and 3 visits per week. Visits per week can vary based on your diagnosis and several other factors. Please discuss this with your therapist to determine what is right for you.

How far ahead should I schedule my appointments?
Because we provide high quality care and focus on patient results, our schedules get very busy. We ask that you schedule appointments AT LEAST four weeks ahead of your current visit date. This will ensure that you will maintain a place on our schedule without interruption in your care.  Appointments can be easily cancelled once you are well.

What if my exercises make me hurt worse?
As a general rule, if the exercises that we have you doing make your pain worse, one of two possibilities is likely. Either, you are doing the exercises incorrectly, OR, we gave you the wrong exercises to do. Regardless, if this is the case, please let your therapist know immediately.

What if I have other questions?
Please Ask! We are here to help you achieve results and have a great experience along the way. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask your therapist or any member of our staff at (913) 888-0014.
